What Is Re-entry?
Each year, approximately 4000 offenders are released back into the community. New Life Development Ministries is a unique life changing re-entry program that primarily deals with the major obstacles men face for successful re-entry back into their community. One of the major reasons for the high recidivism rate is the lack of preparation and programing for the transition. This limits the opportunity for gainful lasting employment.
There are not enough re-entry programs to assist the vast numbers of these citizens returning from incarceration. Many of the existing programs are under staffed and underfunded which limits them in being able to offer a balance program of wrap around services.
Indiana’s statistics for 2010 showed a recidivism rate of 50%. New Life Development Ministries’ recidivism rate between 2009 and 2016 was 6%. It is our goal to lower the recidivism rate by training offenders and creating job opportunities, while also addressing their needs.
